Berezanj

Grani made this vault in memory of Karl, his partner.

This is a copy of a rune stone that was found on the Ukrainian island Berezanj, not far from where River Dnjepr runs into the Black Sea. This is the only rune stone that have been found along this route that the vikings used on their way to Miklagarðr, which was their name for Constantinople. When people died abroad there were generally rune stones raised in their homelands instead, as a memorial.
There was an exhibition at Moesgaard Museum in Århus in the summer of 2022, with many items from Ukraine. I suppose that those objects will have to stay in Denmark until the war is over.
