Sæmundr had the stone erected in memory of Steingísl, his kinsman-by-marriage.

I had to walk quite far to reach this rune stone, but it was worth the effort. It looks like they have restored it to former glory, as much as possible. No trace of lichen or moss, and the runes and the design must have been filled in with red paint not so long ago.
