Läckö castle

The earliest stronghold was built here in the end of the 13th century. It was owned by the Skara-bishops. Nothing is visible of that one, though.... Brynolf Gerlachson had it rebuilt after a fire in the mid-15th century, and Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie changed it a bit in the 17th century ( and so did his father before him..... ). Now it´s open to the public in the summer, and there are different exhibitions there every year. One year the theme was runes and runestones. A link.

One lovely place to visit nearby is Hindens rev. And on the way there, you´ll pass the Läckö rune stone, Gösslunda, Rackeby and Skalunda. Look at this map. Strö is a detour of only a few kilometres.
