The Oseberg Viking ship

This ship was unearthened in 1904 out of a burial mound near Tønsberg in Norway. Two women were buried - probably mistress and slave....
It was built some time around 815-820 AD. Then, in 834 AD, it was put into a bed of blue clay and covered with turf, which kept the oxygen out, and protected the wood from breaking down....
