Avebury

Avebury is a fantastic Neolithic monument, dating from around 2600 BC. It consists of the biggest stone circle in Europe with a very large henge just outside it, and the remains of two stone circles inside it. About one kilometer south of Avebury is Silbury Hill, which is clearly visible if you're standing on top of the henge. West Kennet Avenue is one of the ancient entrances into the monument from south-east, leading to the Sanctuary.

Nowadays there's a village inside the henge, and I suppose that the houses contain stones that used to belong to the circles. Once upon a time the monument may have looked like this.
