West Kennet Long Barrow

This Stone Age tomb is considered to be one of the finest of its kind. It dates from around 3600 BC, and it was in use for about 1000 years. Remains of at least 46 individuals have been found during excavations. Silbury hill is less than 500 meters away from here, and it is clearly visible from here. Further north is West Kennet Avenue that leads to Avebury stone circle.
These pictures show the barrow that is about 100 meters long, and also what it looks like inside the tomb. There are five chambers, and during restoration they made a window in the ceiling of the innermost one, to let the light in.
